    ASOS Sale bargain

I feel like I am repeating myself when I say this but I love a good sale. Just call me Bargain Yasmine but nothing beats the joy of finding that perfect item at a reduced price. Allowing you to buy even more stuff in the long run! That’s my shopping logic btw, don’t ruin it.

Right now there are a ton of sales on, I really recommend the RiverIsland and the ASOS sale this season, with so many lovely pieces at a reduced price my fingers are getting a little tingly. I could buy them all! I won’t, because I have severe lack of space and the boyf will kill me but I probably will because I have no self-control and you know, bargains and saving money in the long run. A very wise woman (my mother) once told me that if you really wanna win at sales you should pick key items, with expensive fabric that you probably wouldnt buy full price. So when I came across this skirt I got a little over the top excited. I have a soft spot for A-line skirts, popper fronts and tan suede. And its on sale! Like hello, meant to be much? Anyway, I realize that they only have one size left so sorry about that… but Ive attached some that are similar for you to peruse over.

You can buy the skirt here in the one size they have left or similar ones here and here aaaaand here

    Fashion, Halloween, Tip

    Whats for Halloween this year?

Today I did something that makes me feel incredibly grown up. Today I bought a glue gun. I don’t know why, but owning a glue gun to me just symbolizes adulthood. And why you might ask am I buying a glue gun? For Halloween of course! 🙂 Each year (sans last year) I try to make my costume from scratch, inspired by costumes people have posted on Pinterest. Over the years I have been Tom Cruise from Risky Business, the twitter bird logo and a scary tooth fairy just to name a few!

And this year is no different! It takes time to make a decent Halloween costume. Lots of planning and trial and error go into making a costume from scratch. Thankfully the BRILLIANT ladies at Golin PR and Cadburys sent me over some Halloween Treats to munch on while I get my glue gun action on. I absolutely fell in love with the Ghooost Egg, it was torture having to patiently photograph these before I could stuff my face. The Cadbury Crunchy Spiders are perfect to decorate a Halloween dinner table with. You could even decorate your house with some fake cobwebs and add a little chocolate treat to them or you know, you could just eat them…And like, Heroes? More like heroes for my mouth. I dont understand why the bag says family bag though. Im blatantly not sharing, and certainly not with my family. They can go get their own chocolate.

    [Seriously] good brownies

Guys, I don’t know if you know this but it’s Chocolate Week! Yup, no lies. A whole freaking week dedicated to deliciousness that is chocolate. I’m really gutted I just found out. I feel like I have massively missed out on something super important. Like FashionWeek, but for Chocolate. White, dark, milk, powder, chunks, chips,  bites, bits, drops, or melted. We do not discriminate against chocolate. Not even chocolate that includes mayonnaise.

I’m a super chocolate fan, I’m pretty sure it runs in my blood, my mom has always been a huge chocolate fan. White, dark, milk, powder, chunks, chips,  bites, bits, drops, or melted. We do not discriminate against chocolate. I don’t even discriminate against chocolate that includes mayonnaise. Yeah you read right, chocolate that includes mayonnaise. (Because y’all know I am a huge mayo fan too so that helps)

Created by Super Golden Bakes, I just had to share these with you! 🙂  I am not gonna lie, they are probably the best brownies I have ever tried. I had the pleasure of enjoying a spoonful at the Heinz Seriously Good Event, and the first thing I did when I got home was to whip up my own batch. I took them to work and they went down like a treat. Even the boyf when a bit brownie crazy and he doesn’t have sweet tooth.. Or so he claims…

Makes about 30 big squares or 50-60 small cubes

    200g | 7oz Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise

200g | 7oz good quality dark chocolate, chopped small

300g |10.5oz soft light brown sugar (make sure it’s free of lumps)

    125g | 4.4oz plain (all purpose) flour

    100g | 3.5oz candied cherries, halved

    60g | 2oz cocoa powder

    2 large eggs

    2-3 tbsp cherry brandy (optional)

    For the glaze

    100g | 3.5oz dark chocolate, chopped small

    100ml | 3.4fl oz double cream

    2 tbsp runny honey

extra shaved chocolate to decorate, optional

Preheat the oven to 180C | 350F. Line a 18cm (7in) square brownie pan with baking paper, letting it hang over the edges.

Place the chopped chocolate in a bowl and set over a saucepan of barely simmering water. Make sure the bottom of the bowl is not touching the water. Allow the chocolate to slowly melt, stirring it from time to time. Set aside.

Put the eggs and sugar in large bowl and whisk vigorously until frothy.

Whisk the mayonnaise and cherry brandy into the eggs and then add to the melted chocolate. Mix together until smooth.

Sift the flour and cocoa into the chocolate and mix together until the batter is smooth. Fold in the chopped cherries.

Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for 28-30 minutes. Leave to cool completely in the tin then lift out using the baking paper.

Put the chocolate for the glaze into a bowl. Put the cream and honey into a small pot and heat until small bubbles appear around the edge of the pot – do not allow to boil. Pour over the chocolate, leave to stand for 2 minutes, then use a balloon whisk to slowly stir until the chocolate is completely melted, glossy and smooth.

Spread the chocolate glaze over the cooled brownies and top with chocolate shavings (use a potato peeler on a bar of chocolate to create those or use store-bought).  Set aside until the glaze is set and then carefully slice into small cubes.

And voila! Seriously good brownies! 🙂 Would you eat brownies with mayo? Id love to hear if you try the recipe!

    How to rock pale legs

I think it’s safe to say summer my dears is officially well and truly over. And you know how I know? By my reduced interest in self-tanning. Now that the sun has been replaced with wind and rain, I don’t feel so bad showing off my ghostly white legs

Look here is even a close-up! With my tassleastic bag from Zara

    img_0409 img_0439

My whole outfit, well besides my bag and shoes and watch I found in H&M. The skirt is probably one of my favorites. Perfect on its own, or under short dresses. I think I paid something like £9! They don’t have it online but I am sure you can find it in any H&M store 🙂

    Seriously good comfort food

Chunky knits, candle light. Snuggly blankets and comfort food. Hello Fall, Hello Winter. I’ve been expecting you and so has Heinz.

You might remember this post, when I headed to the Heinz Seriously Good Spoonful event, where they had invited bloggers to come up with their own seriously good meal, using mayo. There was so much tasty food it was unreal. It was heaven for a foodie mayo lover like myself.

That’s why I am so excited I get to share some of my favorite recipes with you!
I absolutely fell in love with this spoon, even though I have never been a fan of steak and ale.

It might not look like much but its bursting with flavour, with a smooth creamy mash. It’s comfort food from the gods, and I am converted.

Makes 2 portions, or many many spoons!

    Prep time: 20m

    Cook time: 1h 0m

    Total time: 1h 20m

    1 onion, diced

    1 carrot, diced

    400g stewing steak, diced

    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 sprig fresh thyme

    250ml ale of your choice

    150ml beef stock

800g potatoes, peeled and cut into small chunks

    2tbsp Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise

    A splash milk (optional)

    1tbsp cornflour

In a large saucepan, fry the onion, carrot, steak and garlic in oil over a medium heat for a few minutes until browned.

Add the thyme, ale and beef stock and bring to the boil. Cover and reduce the heat to low for 1 hour.

Around 20 minutes before the steak is ready, put the potatoes on to boil.

Once cooked, drain the potatoes and mash. Add the mayo and splash of milk and mix well.

To finish the steak and ale, mix the cornflour with a little cold water then add to the saucepan. Simmer for a minute or two until thickened and luxurious.

Serve! Feel free to have some green vegetables on the side.

So if you do anything this week, make a seriously good mayo mash with steak and ale dinner to snuggle up with 🙂

    Hey World!, Lifestyle, Tip

Things to do in London in October

As the weather is changing and it’s getting colder I figured it was time to share with you some of the things that are happening in London in the colder months of the year. Starting with the month of October! I don’t know if you have heard, but I LOVE this time of year. Seriously come September 1st I’m all like, ‘when can I layer?’, ‘when can I pull out my chunky knits?’, ‘is it too hot for wooly scarfs?’. I refuse to believe I am not alone, there is so much to look forward to this side of the year. Although I like to think I turn into a little hermit this time of year, this is probably my most social season. I get all tingly just thinking about snuggling up under a blanket on the sofa binging Netflix knowing its cold and dark outside but then there is all the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas related events. The struggle is real.

For those of you who do go into hermit mode, purely because you are unaware of what the glorious Autumn season has to offer, I have compiled a list. London is ALWAYS booming with stuff to do. Plus it’s been a while since I have done one of these posts. This October you should most certainly check

    Silent Disco at the shard

Always wanted to out a silent disco? Why not do it at The Shard, 1,000 ft above London in the tallest building in Western Europe with the best views. You pick your channel and choose your side as three DJs battle it out over separate wireless channels, playing the best in pop, rock and party classics, while you dance the night away! For more info and tickets check out the Shard website here

    Urban Food Fest

There is always somewhere to eat in London, and there is always a food market to check out. This October its worth checking out  Urban Food Fest in Shoreditch in the Euro Car Parks that has been transformed into an international food party. Dishes are served from food stalls and trucks, offering vegan hand-made pasta, Brazilian chorizo wraps, and pulled pork in brioche buns, just to name a few. There is a fully stocked bar to cater to everybody. Entry is food but the food, of course, is not. Open from noon to midnight, you have 12 hours to eat your heart out. Sometimes even with free cocktails. Check out their website here for more info

    Homemade at Kew

Ok, Im not gonna lie, I have a little soft spot for Kew Gardens, it might be because I now live locally but they always have fun things on. Right now they have an installation called Homemade at Kew. A craft and design from over 200 exhibitors. Carefully chosen designer present ceramics, jewellery, textiles, glass, paper, furniture, sculptures and more in the pavilion next to Kew Palace. You can pick up tickets here, which also gives you access to the whole of Kew Gardens!

    London Cocktail Week

This is one of the tings that makes London great. Every year London celebrates cocktails. For just £10, you get a wristband that entitles you to £5 cocktails in many of the best bars in London.  You can find a new festival hub in Soho, the World Class House, offers retro and futuristic drinking experiences, while Old Spitalfields Market will be LCW party central. So of the festival events include classic cocktails made with vintage booze (1970s negroni, please) at Peg + Patriot, an LA takeover at White Lyan, rooftop gin masterclasses from Fever-Tree and a Patron Cocktail Lab with masterclasses from internationally renowned bartenders. Those are worth planning for! You can find more info about the festival here

Watch the deer rut in Richmond Park

Richmond Park  is an ancient deer park, still home to around 300 red deer and 250 fallow deer and apparently marks annual deer rut. The huge red stage and fallow bucks roar, clashing antlers to fight off their rivals to attract females. If you had to the park around dawn and dusk you might be able to observe this display, one of London’s most majestic natural phenomena.

    That jacket though

Ok so lets try this posting thing again shall we?
On of the hot trends of this season (for like the last 3 years) has been denim jackets with borg lining. I have probably been to every high street store in London, and browsed every online store, that ships to the UK in the search for the perfect one. I wanted one that wasn’t too short, baggy but yet fitted. One I could squeeze a knitted jumper under if it gets too cold. And one that had a stone washed colour. Huge bonus would also be if it didn’t end up costing me an arm and a leg. So you know, not asking for much!

I found this little beauty at River Island, who is currently, in my option SMASHING it this season with their collection. This jacket doesnt have a full borg lining, its pretty much just what you see in the picture and that suits me perfectly! I also gotta add that NewLook is doing a BEAUT of a denim jacket which was also high on my list… I just cant justify having two… or can I?

    img_0233 img_0224

I paired it with this super versatile and work friendly black swing dress from ASOS which has become a staple in my wardrobe and can be dressed or dressed up, as well as my trusty FjallRaven backpack (which every scandinavian, and wannabe scandinavian should own) and some beat up old Nike Roshe. Keeping it casual on a whole new level! I wore this outfit to work, and it was like the perfect work attire. You just cant beat a LBD!

    img_0238 img_0207

The jacket you can find here, and some similar versions from New Look here (which to be honest was basically in my hand on the way to the till as its got lining all the way through!) and, Topshop here . The black swing dress is still available from ASOS here

    Fashion, Hey World!, Tip

    Tuesday Tips gone wrong

So over the weekend I did this lovely photoshoot of some new stuff I wanted share with you guys. I uploaded them to my computer, deleted them from my camera and thought no more of it. Until Monday night, when I sat down to edit them ready to post as part of my Tuesday Tips to you guys. Well as you know it is now Wednesday and yesterday showed no Tuesday tip post. Why? Because between the glitch in my brain and my laptop, the pictures vanished into the digital realm of nothingness and I am left rather unimpressed and slightly annoyed. Sod’s law, I also didn’t have a backup this week.. Sometimes even I am surprised over my own stupidity!

Oh well, maybe next weeks Tuesday tips will happen! Don’t count on it though, we all know me.

This is by the way my favourite new outfit. Shame I actually cant walk very far in heels any more, and also LOLZ at this pose and this face. Like what is going on? What am I doing? Im obviously failing on more than one level!

Ill show you more of it later, right now Im off to celebrate the lovely Lauren’s bday. Happy hump day babes!

    [Seriously] Good times

When I was a little girl I had a huge obsession with mayo. No joke, it went on everything! Along side ketchup but thats a different story… I remember it got so bad at one point my mom would have to hide the mayo in fridge so I couldn’t find it, or I would throw myself over it like a savaged beast and just go crazy. Now that I think of it, my inner fat kid now makes total sense.. although my obsession has digressed over the years, mainly due to the fact that its not acceptable from a diet or adult point of view to put mayo on everything, its still close to my heart.

So when Golin invited me to their Heinz Seriously Good Spoonful event, I wasn’t exactly gonna say no. The event was to showcase their new campaign, challenging wannabe foodie influencers and top bloggers to create a seriously good meal with a twist. The meal had to feature Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise as a an ingredient and fit on a single spoon. Just typing that makes my inner mayo heart fluttered with glee at the thought of consuming spoonfuls of delicious food. The event was held at IceTank in London, and judged by food stylist Nico Ghirlando, Heinz spokesperson Andy Bacon, by food critic William Sitwell. The latter giving me a serious case of celeb butterflies being the massive MasterChef fan that I am.

The event was beautifully decorated with blue light, clever ways of displaying the dishes and voting jars, letting you drop in golden spoons in the ones you found your favourites! I fell in love with a black forrest brownie recipe that Im still dreaming about…

I got to taste so must tasty food, leaving with a full belly and a goodie bag filled with mayo and new recipes to try. I cant wait to try the challenge my self! Dont worry, I will of course be sharing it with you guys! 😉

    img_0009 img_9952-copy img_0012 img_9926-copy

Thanks to Golin and Heinz for having me! It was a blast!

    Hey World!

    New blog – same girl

    Good morning you squidgey beauties!

You might have noticed something different. Like my twitter handle, and my instagram handle and you know.. my blog URL… It’s been a long time coming, but it was time. Time to take the jump and separate my blog from my design work. It was time this little puppy got its own domain and business cards. I feel so fancy haha and what better way to kick off October and Fall/Winter? Which is by the way, my FAVORITE time of the year! It’s also less of mouthful and hopefully easier for you to remember!

So babes, update those bookmarks and get ready for some new fresh updates 🙂 Remember you can also follow me here and here
