    Filthy animals

Today I accomplished something I haven’t done in a while. Today I woke up drunk. It brought back some glorious memories of my days at uni when Charlotte and I spent 10 days in a party haze and only sobered up to drive home to get to work a Saturday morning at 7am. Such rebellions, but as Dorothy says, somebody’s gotta raise a little hell. Which is btw like my favorite song at the moment! You should check it out watch?v=rmYyPcEQKU4

Last nights christmas party went luckily unpublished on social media, which I think is very lucky on my part, as I am proud to say it involved downing a Le Fizz cocktail and dancing on the dinner table at Circus like the filthy animals we are.

Arn’t you proud of me mom?! 😀

Alas no rest of the wicked, and there are designs that erm need designing. Is it socially acceptable to eat a pint of Ben&Jerry’s at work? Hello hangover cravings. I gotta admit, I am a little ashamed that we are on the 7th of December and I havent really shared any christmas goodies with you. Dont worry though, there is a festive little treat coming tomorrow about how to buy a secret santa presents – cause I am basically the boss at it. In the mean time you can check out my last years post about the best movies to watch if you arent ready to embrace the christmas movies yet, the best way to decorate AND assemble a gingerbread house, and some cheeky present ideas for her

    Later babes!

    Hello September

    Oh September, you beaut!

You mark the start of something magical. Fall, Autumn, orange, yellow and red leaves. Cool mornings, and chunky knits. Beanies and woolly scarfs. Layers and pumpkin spice. Love me some pumpkin spice! As much as I enjoy the sunshine that the summer brings, there is just something so freakin’ koselig about being wrapped in a chunky blanket, with a hot cup of something basking in candlelight while you know the weather outside is biting and getting darker and colder.

The start of September also marks the 1 month anniversary of my unemployment and in fear of turning into this person who is constantly expanding her no pants radius I figured I better set myself some accomplishment goals for September. I am not including the most obvious goals – win the lottery and find out I am secretly related to Beyonce. I figured that by putting my goals out there into the world of the interwebs, a long with Brooklyn and Chloe’s break up, there would a bigger change I would actually complete them. Lolz, we all know it won’t make any difference.

10 things I wanna do in September

    1. Bing watch season 2 of Narcos. Netflix won’t even know what hit it.
    2. Attempt to make avo mousse and nice cream
    3. Actually find a gym within walking distance from the house because my current one is a 30 min train ride away and that just a mission.
    4. Go to said gym
    5. Go through old clothes. It’s time for a clear out
    6. Try to stop peeling my nail polish off.
    7. My hair needs a trim, and the color could do with a refresh. So off the hairdressers I go
    8. Halloween is always a big deal for me. Last year I was sick though so this year I need to make an even better costume and planning starts in September!
    9. Find something new to make for this years Christmas presents. Don’t think I can do another year of fudge
    10. Attempt to make some pumpkin pie spiced syrup to jazz up my homemade iced lattes.

Tuesday tips: 10 ways to save money between jobs

    Hey guys!

Yasmine here, from life of the rich and famous! Oh wait, Im not rich nor am I famous. Lets try that again.

    Hey guys!

Yasmine here, but you already probably knew that. Anyway, life of unemployment going grand here. Actually, come to think of it, I wish I had a grand!
Speaking of money or lack thereof … I thought I would share my top 10 tips on ways to save money, especially when you are in between jobs. Since now I am basically an expert at it. This was gonna be part of my Tuesday tip series but I have a feeling this is gonna be published on Wednesday. Sorry guys!

    1. Make yourself an excel list over all your regular outgoings like your bills. The key to saving money is really understanding what you have to work with.
    2. Call your phone company and see if there is a chance you can change your phone contract to reduce monthly costs.
    3. Do you have any ‘luxuries’? Time to cut out that Starbucks coffee or your PT trainer… (I’m looking at you Yasmine!) or maybe both…
    4.  Why not try to earn a little extra money by selling stuff you don’t need?Like you know those two bin bags you have in the living room filled with unused clothes? Time to declutter your closet and refill your wallet.  (I certainly don’t have two bags of unused clothes in the living room annoying the shit out of the boyf…no siree…)
    5. Apparently, not shopping is a great way to save money so avoid all malls.
    6. Tightening your food budget is also a winner. Make a food plan for the week, do one food shopping for the week, and stick to it. A little insider tip, diet coke is cheaper in bulk but then again tap water is free.
    7. Porridge is a super cheap and healthy breakfast, and lunch and dinner. Morrisons do a HUGE bag of porridge oats for 16p.
    8. Also – if you’re shopping at Waitrose or M&S its time to swap to Lidl, Aldi or Morrisons. Reality check, you don’t need to pay £10 for 800grams of chicken. Apps like MySuperMarket are a great way to keep track on what stores are doing what deals.
    9. Look babes, lets get real here. If you are giving any part of your money away to support 3 eyed puppies that are born backwards its time to stop. You’re poor now, you’re the charity case not them.
    10. All joking aside – trying to save money does not mean giving up your social life. Instead of going out for dinner, invite your friends over games night or a movie night. You’re actually doing them a favour too by saving them money. What a good friend you are 😉

    Just peachy

HURRAY ITS THE WEEKEND! Wait – it is Friday, right? Sorry I’m getting my days a little mixed up. I’m kinda glad its the weekend. Why you ask? Surely every day feels like the weekend to me now? Well, it doesn’t and the weekend gives me a sense of normality oddly enough.

So with all of this time on my hands, I have spent a lot of time cooking and finally, I have had the time to open up my Real Greek cookbook and dive into the world of greek cooking. You might remember that I went to a pre-launch lunch with Tonio Buxton back in July. You can read about here, and while you’re at it book a table at the Real Greek. The food is to die for!  First off was this gorgeous Warm Halloumi and Peach Salad. Halloumi, good. Peaches, good. I do apologize for the poor quality pictures. The lighting in our kitchen isn’t great and we were in a hurry to eat while it was still warm.

Oh my though, this salad is so super tasty I realised that screw it. Screw the fact that pictures aren’t great. I have to share this recipe with you guys! This is perfect as a main, and perfect as a side. We had it as a main 🙂

Serves 2 as a main or 6 as a meze

3 ripe, firm peaches, halved and stoned
    2 tbsp olive oil
    250g Halloumi cheese
3 red chicory, root intact, quartered (also we used green as we couldn’t get red)
1 bunch of spring onions trimmed and chopped diagonally into 5cm slices

    For the dressing

1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
1/2 large bunch fresh coriander, roughly chopped
    5 tbsp white wine vinegar
    3 tbsp clear Greek honey

    • First make the dressing: Place all the ingredients in a large lidded jam jar and shake to mix well
    • Cut the peach halves into 5 wedges. Cut the cheese into 1cm slices. Heat half of the oil in a large frying pan and fry the cheese for 3-4 minutes on each side or until a golden crust forms. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
    • Add the chicory and spring onions to the hot oil, fry for a minute or two to lightly colour and wilt the leaves. Transfer to a plate lined with kitchen towel
    • Add the remaining oil to the pan and fry the peaches over the high heat for 1 minute just to soften and colour slightly.
    • Now gently combine all the prepared ingredients onto a big plate and fold in the dressing.

    and voila!

Ps: next week is Matcha Week on the blog and I will be sharing 3 ways to use matcha powder 🙂 Stay tuned!

    Hey World!, Misc

    Gooooood morning yall!

This blog post title says everything. I am melting. Summer has finally arrived to London. I am not complaining, but it is a bit of a shock to the system to go from 15 degrees to 32 in like a day. It’s not even 11am and I am sat basking in my own sweat. But besides that, its all good. You might have guessed I am back from camping now, it was great, I got sunburned, I ate lots of seafood and spent £3 on a loaf of sourdough bread which I only had 3 slices of. Move aside P Diddy. You aint go nothin’ on this big spender. Hollaaahhhh. Lolz.

But besides that, it’s life admin day here. We are paying bills and doing laundry before we head out into the sunshine. I cant decide, head to the beach and watch the bf fish or pop to Homebase and pimp out the garden. Decisions are hard. What I really want to do is go live in the fridge.

On a side note, look at my adorable breakfast accessories! The glass is from Sass and Bell and the egg cup is a present from my brothers.

9 Things to do in London this summer

Ladies and Gentleman, it is July and when you look out the window you would think its September? What ever happened to summer? I have sandals I want to wear, Pimms I want to drink and tanning I want to do but alas not. When it comes to summer, I have a tenancy to dream of long strolls along the Saines, drinking prosecco by the eiffel tower and people watching at beautiful french bistro while stuffing my face with all the bread. I dont know why though because every time I go to Paris all I do is complain about the urin smell and also because Bergen is without a doubt my favorite place. Not Paris. There is no place like Bergen during the summer. I try to spend most of my summers there but this year London is the place to be. It’s not so bad though London has a certain je ne sais quoi to it when the sun is shining and is always packed with thing to do come rain come shine. So I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things to do in London During the summer

    The Real Greek Experience

You just wouldn’t believe the last 7 days I have had! It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, good food and a chest infection.

Speaking of good food, have you ever been to The Real Greek? They have locations all over London, but for some reason I always end up at the one in Westfields.  Like the time I ended up there a few years ago, when my friend Veronica was visiting, post me just getting mugged on the bus. ON THE BUS! Did you read that? It was so traumatizing, it took months before I took a bus anywhere again. I was also dead broke with not wallet (having just been mugged), and I remember I ordered some meatballs. Which actually was just 4 meatballs on a plate. Thats all I ate and if memory serves me right I think I spunged a glass of wine off of V. (Wow, what a good friend I am! V – if you ever come back to London, vino on me babes!) Having just lost all my personal belongings to a sneaky horrible woman on the bus, I wasn’t in the best of moods and in the right mind frame for the Real Greek experience.

So fast forward to Friday 1st of July ( we are back in 2016 now) I had this amazing opportunity to meet the head chef of The Real Greek AND author of the new The Real Greek Cook Book, Tonia Buxton. (Quick fact for my Norwegian readers, this woman is Fedon Lindbergs new business partner!)  What a babe! She is face of Greek food in the UK and presenter of the award winning ‘My Greek Kitchen’ TV series. Hello total girl crush! It’s incredibly empowering meeting women who are so passionate about healthy eating. Myself and a group of lovely other bloggers had the chance to taste some of the incredible food Tonia has developed for The Real Greek. Everything from cold and hot Meze to mouth watering greek salads. The food was to die for. I left wanting more, and ask everybody I have spoken to last weekend, it’s actually all I have been talking about. Some of my favorites included a Roasted pepper and cheese dip, finished with a touch of chilli called HTIPITI, mouthwatering grilled octopus (which FYI I am still dreaming about!) and TIROPITAKIA which is a filo pastry parcel filled with creamy leek, spinach and feta. If you are a calorie counter, or just trying to watch that waistline, don’t panic, they have stated the calories on the menu next to each dish. Which is golden if you’re like me trying to get beach body ready. (Yes I laughed when I read that too)  You’d be surprised though, how healthy greek food actually is! We ended the feast with some delicious desserts, one of them being GREEK YOGHURT WITH WALNUTS IN SYRUP. My mouth started to water just typing that. Forget everything you think you know about walnuts and open your mind to tastebud heaven.

    IMG_7582 IMG_7589

This dip? Get in my mouth!

    IMG_7590 IMG_7591 IMG_7592 IMG_7594 IMG_7596 IMG_7597 IMG_7603 Omg octopus

    IMG_7605 IMG_7607 IMG_7619 IMG_7623 IMG_7625 IMG_7627 IMG_7647

    Walnut heaven!!

    IMG_7653 IMG_7657 IMG_7659

    Moutain tea, so delish! IMG_7662 IMG_7663 IMG_7669

Now if you don’t live anywhere close to a Real Greek restaurant, don’t fret mon petit cheri, The Real Greek Cook book is coming out on July 14th which means you can make these beautiful dishes at home! OPAH! You can pre-order yours from here. Whatcha waiting for? You know you want to! 🙂

    Camping, London, Misc, Tip, Travel

    City Girl in the countryside

Boys and Girls, this might come as a shock to a lot of you but I absolutely love camping. Well ok love is a strong word, but I like really enjoy it. Ok ok, Im not a HUGE fan of the whole sharing a toilet and shower with strangers thing. There is also the no electricity thing, and you know, sleeping on an air mattress, but besides that, it’s great! And not gonna lie, I love an adventure 🙂

The boyfriend and I started going last summer, in a desperate attempt to squeeze a cheap vacation into our budget and get some quality time together that wasn’t based around work, gym and when our housemates were out of town. Last year we ventured down to Devon, twice. It was the first time I had ever been to the south coast England. (Besides a quick day trip Brighton once when the family was visiting and I think the brothers were 7 and 5.) Rather embarrassing considering for how long I have been living in England for. Dont count the years, Im not.

My god though, the english seaside is absolutely fabulous. Seriously, why do people travel abroad when you have such beautiful beaches in this country?! I really regret not bringing my camera last year but you can find a couple of snaps on my Instagram. In an attempt to learn from my mistakes, I made it my mission to bring my camera this time… which was great besides the fact that it was pretty grey and rainy for most of our trip.. sorry guys!

Our first trip this year went to a little village in Suffolk near the coast, called Shottisham. The campsite cost us £15 a night, and was situated within walking distance to a good old fashion country pub. (Great for those of us who just HAD to watch the football…). We went for drives to award-winning bakeries (Check out Pump Street bakery in Otford) long walks in huge wheat fields, fished on pebble beaches (one of them had a dead smelly seal on it, which was so sad) and drowned our tent in heavy rain fall. 98% of the houses were painted pink, and every garden was filled with gorgeous flowers. It was like walking around in movie, or on a pinterest board. Incredible for inspiration, and great when you need some peace of mind. One of the days, we spent the entire day at the beach, mostly in silence just enjoying the little sunshine that was there, while the boyfriend fished. It was such a rare moment where it was just us and we were both in this perfect place. As a bonus I also got heavily sunburned on my back, and now have a tan that will hopefully last the rest of the year. *fingerscrossed* (also kids, skin cancer is no joke. Dont be stupid, wear sunscreen!)

Im still working on getting the boyfriend to take outfit pics of me, so for now all you get is pictures of anything green and colorful. That is me avoiding anything grey that could remotely remind me of London.

    Hey World!, Misc

Is it too late now to say sorry?

Hey guys, sorry for the radio silence lately. I have a list of apologies below. Please circle the most appropriate.

    1. I have no internett
    2. I have been ill
    3. I have been super duper busy with something I cant tell you about
    4. All of the above

However, I am no longer super duper busy, or ill but I still have no internet so I am not gonna make any promises. May has just flown by, and I have not set any goals for June, but perhaps spend less money. My bank account looks like its got a eating disorder. My poor savings account is looking pretty violated and my closet is so filled, you need a map to find your way around it. Maybe my June goal should be stop stuffing my face with cake and go the gym more ooooor maybe not. I think Simon would be happy if my June goal would be to get rid of my shoes. Anyway, Im throwing up an old picture, but even though its old you should know I am still alive and kicking. Since I have no internet, I have all the time in world to plan future posts and edit some pics for you guys so be prepared, as soon as I come out of the stone ages I will be back stronger than ever! Bet you’re well excited. Dont blame you babes.

(wish I was P Diddy and could get lash extensions again!)

Tuesday tip – the crappiest smudge liner ever

Usually these product tips of the week consist of people boosting about amazing products. I thought I would change it up a little, and tell you about a high street product that although it was somewhat bank account friendly, is a complete waste of money. I was on the look out for an eyeliner, that I could easily smudge so when I came across this beauty, I figured DAAAAAAAMN I hit the freaking jackpot.  Look at it! It even has a built in smudge! OMG LOVE! (I pity the fool…)

    IMG_6928 (1)

I didn’t and here is why. See this line I have drawn on my hand?

    IMG_6921 (1)

Now watch me try my very best to smudge it

    IMG_6922 (3)

After trying to ‘smudge’ and by ‘smudge’ I mean basically rub off a layer of skin on my eyelid you are left with a somewhat smudged line and lots of tiny black spots..Like what are they? Thats not smudging, that erasing! On my eye lid. Notice how red my skin is around the line – enough said. Ouchy.

    IMG_6923 (3)

And here you have the final out come. I dont know what you can call that but I can tell you that 5 hours later it will no longer be on your eyelid, no, it will be in dark circles under your eye. Save your makeup dignity and your money on both face wipes and a liner.

    You’re welcome.
