    That Million dollah smile

Hola guapas! (thats btw my favorite way to start any message right now, addressed to male or female. Professional or personal. Sorry work colleagues! Not really)

Im off into the middle of no mans land tomorrow to sleep in a tent, live of the land, and kill my dinner with my bare hands tomorrow. Jokes, I am off to sleep in a tent, but the only thing my hands will be doing is lifting the bottle of vino from the ground and up to my mouth. Cups are for losers anyway. (again, we have talked about my lack of class before right?)

So obviously (as I learned last time) I will be without signal so I thought I would leave you all with this parting post (don’t get too excited, I will be back) about taking care of that million dollar smile. Them pearly whites! Because you know, besides being over the average obsessed with my hair, I am also slightly obsessed with my teeth. You only really get one set for life, unless you wanna get a full set of dentures and get to be that crazy old spinster aunt who takes them out when she laughs. Gag.
If you think I am being ridiculous, a survey done by more than half of singles both men and women ranked teeth as the most important characteristic about a potential date. A nice smile is everything. It portrays happiness, and confidence. Two other characteristics single or not, people find attractive in any situation. Thats a HOT tip for all you singletons and potentially unemployed peeps out there. Just call me dating guru.

So you got your teeth bleached its all well and great that your teeth are looking nice ready to mingle but are they healthy? Are they strong? Are you using the right toothpaste? Because apparently thats a big deal too. I was absolutely clueless until I attended the bloggers hangout last weekend and got introduced to the a toothpaste brand called Regenerate. Regenerate Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste uses exclusive and clinically proven NR-5™ technology which forms a fresh supply of the same mineral tooth enamel is made of, restoring the high mineral content and protective function of tooth enamel with regular use. With regular use, this toothpaste strengthens and protects the teeth against cavities and weakness by restoring the enamel mineral content and replenishing original whiteness. It also has a nice minty flavor so its easy to replace your regular toothpaste with this super power!

I was also given the Regenerate Enamel Science Boosting Serum which you are supposed to use monthly. It boosts the effectiveness of the Advanced Toothpaste by 43%, maximizing the power of enamel mineral regeneration but I have yet to try that so I am not gonna give you some mombo jombo about it just yet.

Just a side note, in this below picture is actually capturing my inner crazy. Incase there was any doubt if it was there or not.

I have only been using it for about two weeks, and I have started to notice a difference. My teeth seem less icy and I can bite into a Mr Freeze with out the feeling of my teeth starting to sing. Now give me ALL the Mr. Freeze. FANKS.

You can pick up a tube at Lookfantastic, boots and Selfridges for £10 and see for yourself! 🙂 But hands off my Mr Freeze.

9 Things to do in London this summer

Ladies and Gentleman, it is July and when you look out the window you would think its September? What ever happened to summer? I have sandals I want to wear, Pimms I want to drink and tanning I want to do but alas not. When it comes to summer, I have a tenancy to dream of long strolls along the Saines, drinking prosecco by the eiffel tower and people watching at beautiful french bistro while stuffing my face with all the bread. I dont know why though because every time I go to Paris all I do is complain about the urin smell and also because Bergen is without a doubt my favorite place. Not Paris. There is no place like Bergen during the summer. I try to spend most of my summers there but this year London is the place to be. It’s not so bad though London has a certain je ne sais quoi to it when the sun is shining and is always packed with thing to do come rain come shine. So I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things to do in London During the summer

    The Real Greek Experience

You just wouldn’t believe the last 7 days I have had! It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, good food and a chest infection.

Speaking of good food, have you ever been to The Real Greek? They have locations all over London, but for some reason I always end up at the one in Westfields.  Like the time I ended up there a few years ago, when my friend Veronica was visiting, post me just getting mugged on the bus. ON THE BUS! Did you read that? It was so traumatizing, it took months before I took a bus anywhere again. I was also dead broke with not wallet (having just been mugged), and I remember I ordered some meatballs. Which actually was just 4 meatballs on a plate. Thats all I ate and if memory serves me right I think I spunged a glass of wine off of V. (Wow, what a good friend I am! V – if you ever come back to London, vino on me babes!) Having just lost all my personal belongings to a sneaky horrible woman on the bus, I wasn’t in the best of moods and in the right mind frame for the Real Greek experience.

So fast forward to Friday 1st of July ( we are back in 2016 now) I had this amazing opportunity to meet the head chef of The Real Greek AND author of the new The Real Greek Cook Book, Tonia Buxton. (Quick fact for my Norwegian readers, this woman is Fedon Lindbergs new business partner!)  What a babe! She is face of Greek food in the UK and presenter of the award winning ‘My Greek Kitchen’ TV series. Hello total girl crush! It’s incredibly empowering meeting women who are so passionate about healthy eating. Myself and a group of lovely other bloggers had the chance to taste some of the incredible food Tonia has developed for The Real Greek. Everything from cold and hot Meze to mouth watering greek salads. The food was to die for. I left wanting more, and ask everybody I have spoken to last weekend, it’s actually all I have been talking about. Some of my favorites included a Roasted pepper and cheese dip, finished with a touch of chilli called HTIPITI, mouthwatering grilled octopus (which FYI I am still dreaming about!) and TIROPITAKIA which is a filo pastry parcel filled with creamy leek, spinach and feta. If you are a calorie counter, or just trying to watch that waistline, don’t panic, they have stated the calories on the menu next to each dish. Which is golden if you’re like me trying to get beach body ready. (Yes I laughed when I read that too)  You’d be surprised though, how healthy greek food actually is! We ended the feast with some delicious desserts, one of them being GREEK YOGHURT WITH WALNUTS IN SYRUP. My mouth started to water just typing that. Forget everything you think you know about walnuts and open your mind to tastebud heaven.

    IMG_7582 IMG_7589

This dip? Get in my mouth!

    IMG_7590 IMG_7591 IMG_7592 IMG_7594 IMG_7596 IMG_7597 IMG_7603 Omg octopus

    IMG_7605 IMG_7607 IMG_7619 IMG_7623 IMG_7625 IMG_7627 IMG_7647

    Walnut heaven!!

    IMG_7653 IMG_7657 IMG_7659

    Moutain tea, so delish! IMG_7662 IMG_7663 IMG_7669

Now if you don’t live anywhere close to a Real Greek restaurant, don’t fret mon petit cheri, The Real Greek Cook book is coming out on July 14th which means you can make these beautiful dishes at home! OPAH! You can pre-order yours from here. Whatcha waiting for? You know you want to! 🙂

    The first of many

    Evening lovelies

I don’t know about you, but I am really glad it’s the weekend! Right now I’m sat in the kitchen watching the boyf cook me a roast dinner while I enjoy a nice glass of wine. Ok there is no wine. There is diet coke in an old jam jar because lets face it, I am just not that sophisticated. Tonight is date night and by date night I mean, sweat pants and Game of Thrones on repeat.  I just gotta convince him that shows like PPL are the way forward too but in all honesty, Ill probably be watching his fishing videos before that ever happens!

Anyway, that wasn’t really what I wanted to tell you about… Today something HUGE happened. So you know how I have frequently mentioned before that I was in the process of convincing (read: blackmail and bribing) the boyf to help me take some outfit pics? It happened, today it actually happened! And you know what? Im rather impressed. The pictures turned out WAY better than expected! Not that I ever doubted him or anything…but like HURRAY! Thanks boo! Perfect timing as well as this outfit is like my favorite at the moment (so be prepared to see it A LOT). I feel like I just had to share it with you guys. What I love the most about it, is that in many ways it’s so unlike me. I’m really pushing my boundaries in terms of my fashion comfort zone here. It’s so colorful and vibrant though and well, patterny! Not sure thats even a word. However, I did get the dress which by the way, is in satin, for a bargain on the H&M website. £14.99 baby! And they say you cant put a price on love…pffft! H&M also have it in plum red and not gonna lie, Im probably gonna have to order that too. Oh and the shoes? From topshop and so so so comfy.

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend 🙂

    Camping, London, Misc, Tip, Travel

    City Girl in the countryside

Boys and Girls, this might come as a shock to a lot of you but I absolutely love camping. Well ok love is a strong word, but I like really enjoy it. Ok ok, Im not a HUGE fan of the whole sharing a toilet and shower with strangers thing. There is also the no electricity thing, and you know, sleeping on an air mattress, but besides that, it’s great! And not gonna lie, I love an adventure 🙂

The boyfriend and I started going last summer, in a desperate attempt to squeeze a cheap vacation into our budget and get some quality time together that wasn’t based around work, gym and when our housemates were out of town. Last year we ventured down to Devon, twice. It was the first time I had ever been to the south coast England. (Besides a quick day trip Brighton once when the family was visiting and I think the brothers were 7 and 5.) Rather embarrassing considering for how long I have been living in England for. Dont count the years, Im not.

My god though, the english seaside is absolutely fabulous. Seriously, why do people travel abroad when you have such beautiful beaches in this country?! I really regret not bringing my camera last year but you can find a couple of snaps on my Instagram. In an attempt to learn from my mistakes, I made it my mission to bring my camera this time… which was great besides the fact that it was pretty grey and rainy for most of our trip.. sorry guys!

Our first trip this year went to a little village in Suffolk near the coast, called Shottisham. The campsite cost us £15 a night, and was situated within walking distance to a good old fashion country pub. (Great for those of us who just HAD to watch the football…). We went for drives to award-winning bakeries (Check out Pump Street bakery in Otford) long walks in huge wheat fields, fished on pebble beaches (one of them had a dead smelly seal on it, which was so sad) and drowned our tent in heavy rain fall. 98% of the houses were painted pink, and every garden was filled with gorgeous flowers. It was like walking around in movie, or on a pinterest board. Incredible for inspiration, and great when you need some peace of mind. One of the days, we spent the entire day at the beach, mostly in silence just enjoying the little sunshine that was there, while the boyfriend fished. It was such a rare moment where it was just us and we were both in this perfect place. As a bonus I also got heavily sunburned on my back, and now have a tan that will hopefully last the rest of the year. *fingerscrossed* (also kids, skin cancer is no joke. Dont be stupid, wear sunscreen!)

Im still working on getting the boyfriend to take outfit pics of me, so for now all you get is pictures of anything green and colorful. That is me avoiding anything grey that could remotely remind me of London.

Tuesday tip – the crappiest smudge liner ever

Usually these product tips of the week consist of people boosting about amazing products. I thought I would change it up a little, and tell you about a high street product that although it was somewhat bank account friendly, is a complete waste of money. I was on the look out for an eyeliner, that I could easily smudge so when I came across this beauty, I figured DAAAAAAAMN I hit the freaking jackpot.  Look at it! It even has a built in smudge! OMG LOVE! (I pity the fool…)

    IMG_6928 (1)

I didn’t and here is why. See this line I have drawn on my hand?

    IMG_6921 (1)

Now watch me try my very best to smudge it

    IMG_6922 (3)

After trying to ‘smudge’ and by ‘smudge’ I mean basically rub off a layer of skin on my eyelid you are left with a somewhat smudged line and lots of tiny black spots..Like what are they? Thats not smudging, that erasing! On my eye lid. Notice how red my skin is around the line – enough said. Ouchy.

    IMG_6923 (3)

And here you have the final out come. I dont know what you can call that but I can tell you that 5 hours later it will no longer be on your eyelid, no, it will be in dark circles under your eye. Save your makeup dignity and your money on both face wipes and a liner.

    You’re welcome.

    Mango Salsa

Anybody how knows me, knows I have a huge obsession with Mexican food. Its my absolute favourite! (ok I lie, I dont discriminate against food. I love all food) – I think I have even mentioned it at least 5 times on the blog already, how much I actually love mexican food. Therefor it is my absolute pleasure, ladies an gentleman to introduce you to a very dear friend of mine. Mango Salsa. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to embrace the fruit in salad sensation but now – I love it. (That doesn’t mean Im gonna be jumping on the monstrosity that is pineapple pizza though. Ew and no.) It’s really perfect for warmer days, when you just want something light and fresh to eat.

There are lots of different variations of mango salsa, but this is my favourite. This made enough for two big portions, and works beautifully with some grilled salmon.

    • 1 ripe mango, diced (you can speed ripe them over night in a bowl of uncooked rice)
    • 2 small tomotaos, chopped
    • 1 small chopped red onion
    • ¼ cup packed fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
    • A splash of lemon or lime juice, to taste
    • ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon salt, to taste
    • Splash of olive oil

Mix it all together, and try not to eat it right from the bowl! 😉

6 Things to do in London this weekend – May Edition

The great thing about London is that there always something to do. Unless you accept the fact that you cant do everything, you’re gonna get a bad case of FOMO. After living in London for almost 5 years, I still find it hard to keep up with the city that is forever changing. Like, as an example, in all my time here I have only been able to find one independent restaurant that I absolutely love. Sadly its gone bust and I was only able to go there 4 times. I have yet to find a Lebanese restaurant quite like it and trust me I have tried a lot of Lebanese restaurants. There is however, some things I do know about London. These below are a great way to spend your weekend!

    1. Club de Fromage on Ice!

Who doesn’t love cheesy pop music and ice skating? The ice rink disco is a  coming-of-age rite of passage and luckily Club de Fromage are allowing us grown-ups to revisit it. The pop music will be present and correct – everything from Abba to Taylor Swift – and there is bar too. Fancy dress is welcome but not obligatory and there’ll be games and prize giveaways while you’re on the ice. You can bring your own skates, or rent some!

    2. Wander Walthemstow Marshes

Walthemstow Marshes is home to a wide array of wildlife and is a site of special scientific interest. Its the home of rare plant creeping marshwort and bird such as reed bunting, sedge warbler and willow warbler.

    3. Learn the history of Parliament at the Jewel Tower

The Jewel Tower, in Westminster, was built around 1365 and is one of only a handful of parts of the original medieval Royal Palace of Westminster. Today it’s open to the public, and hosts a permanent exhibition charting the history of the Houses of Parliament from medieval times to present day.

    4. Visit the Design Museum

Founded in 1989 in an hold banana warehouse besides the Thames the Design museum claims to be the first museum of modern design. It has around 200.000 visitors each year and is internationally recognised centre offering a brilliant insight into what is happening in the world of design

    5. Take the Marx and Engels pub crawl

Given that Marxism had such an impact on global politics, its easy to forget that these two men were quite ordinary. Their pub crawls are legendary, starting for the British Museum, to the Museum Tavern and then dropping by 18 pubs down Tottenham Court Road. Though there are fewer today, its still a trip worth attempting, and the Museum Tavern is a great place to start!

    6. Take a tour by black cabs

If you’re feeling like P Diddy, why not treat yourself to a black cab tour? London has more than 20.000 licensed black cabbies. These guys have to prove they have ‘the knowledge’ of London before they can get their license. They are basically the perfect tour guide, and will be able to show you around to the nooks and crannies which most Londoners have never seen. If you ask nicely that is!

    I just Franked myself

    IMG_6708 copy

I bet you’re wondering why on earth I have covered myself in dirt and decided to take some semi inapporiate pics to share with you. You see today its all about getting a little dirty! Im actually covered in Franks (not the hot sauce, but also a favorite!) face and body scrub. For my birthday my beautiful soul(house)mate Monique gave me a bag of Franks and it’s frankly a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Im covered in the Franks Originally body scrub, it has a very satisfying smell of coffee and orange. I can’t really describe it, its like taking your skin for brunch. The designer in me is also drooling over the packaging design as well.

It’s made of roasted and ground Robusta Coffee Beans, and has a high content of caffeine which helps to stimulate blood flow. Which then helps with a number of skin issues such as psoriasis, eczema, acne and scarring. Hello super scrub!

    IMG_6701 copy

Now lets get down to the dirty part, how to use your Frank. Its very simple: Get in the shower, get a little dirty with the scrub, leave on for 5-10 minutes, (take photos), then rinse off. Once its washed off  you are left with the softest skin ever and a very messy shower. It leaves a slight oily soft feeling to your skin so if thats not your thing use a light shower gel after you’ve washed off the scrub.  There you have it, you’ve just franked yourself!

IMG_6671IMG_6707 copy  You can purchase Franks here. Go get franked!
